11. What are the selection criteria?

The recipients are selected by former Fellows and the Fellowship Board.
In evaluating the applicants, the committee will consider the applicants’ academic performance, student leadership, internship experience, community service, personal qualifications as demonstrated in the interview process, and essay content.

12. How do I know if my application is complete?

 You will not be able to SUMBIT your application unless you have answered every question that has a * beside it. Once you SUBMIT your application you should receive a notice that acknowledges receipt. If you have any problems, feel free to email Keith Maddin at walterwattlesfellowship@gmail.com.

13. What happens after I apply?

All applicants will participate in a brief preliminary interview and, if selected to continue the process, will be asked to attend a cocktail reception and a final interview.
Three recipients and one alternate will be chosen following the final interview.
Decisions of the selection committees are final and are not subject to appeal.  No application or interview feedback will be given.

14. What does the interview process entail?

First interviews of all applicants with complete, eligible applications will be held on October 2 and October 4 (location - Divinity School). They will be approximately 15 minutes long, and you will be interviewed by former Fellows and/or a Fellowship Board Member.

The final interviews will include a cocktail reception on November 2 and interviews on November 3.  The final interviews will last about 1 hour, and you will meet with each of the returning former Fellows and Fellowship Board in groups of 3-4 to discuss your application, qualifications, interests, etc.

Note - this is very important that all applicants understand -  If you are invited and accept an invitation to the final round of interivews you are agreeing to accept the Fellowship if you are selected. 

15. What should I wear?

A business suit is appropriate for the interviews and cocktail attire for the reception.  Remember that Lloyd’s is a conservative establishment so dress accordingly.

16. How and when will I receive notification?

All notifications will be sent by email.  
Add walterwattlesfellowship@gmail.com  to your email address book or “safe senders list” so these important emails are not sent to your junk mail folder.
Do not ‘opt out’ of any email sent from walterwattlesfellowship@gmail.com. You may not receive vital information regarding your fellowship applications.
Note:  Your email address will only be used to communicate with you about your fellowship application.  We will not provide your email address to any third-parties.

17. What are my responsibilities if I am chosen as a recipient?

The Fellowship recipient must accept the position at one of the firms affiliated with the Fellowship and complete the necessary processes to obtain a work permit and UK Visa.  The recipients must attend a debriefing meeting in mid January. In addition, the three new fellows must attend a one night retreat at a nearby location in late January - early February. Finally, we will host a graduation celebration with former Fellows, Board Members, and  new fellows' families the Thursday afternoon before graduation.

18. What is the living situation in London?

Fellowship recipients live in a flat or apartment secured by the Fellowship.  The three fellows will be provided with basic housekeeping supplies, linens, kitchen goods, etc.  More details will be provided following selection.
